Final Exam Essay
This year in art class we completed a variety of projects, and for the final exam I chose the collage, warped grid picture and the book we made from scratch. They were all done in art class and I enjoyed doing them.
The book was made entirely from paper, cardboard, string and a small amount of glue and cloth for the cover. The pages, grouped into leaves, were made of standard printer paper that had been cut and folded. The spine was reinforced with cardboard strips, put into a cardboard cover and covered with cloth. The collage was made using a magazine page and many pictures cut from various magazines glued to the page. The warped grid picture was made while we were learning about surrealism. We first drew a grid over a picture, created a warped grid and then, drew the picture according to the grid which warped the picture.
They are similar because they all involved paper and glue (the picture was glued to the page in the warped grid. And the collage and the warped grid were similar because they both involved a picture and surrealism.
The book was different from both of them because it did not involve a picture and was three dimensional. The collage and the warped grid drawing were different because the grid involved drawing and directly altering the picture, and the collage had many picture whereas the warped grid only had one.
I chose these projects because I liked the way they turned out and were fun to do, and were not so difficult that it felt like work. Overall, I would say all projects turned out well, but these were some of my favorites.
