                                Physical Education Final Exam Reflection
The health fitness aspect I intend to improve is known as cardiovascular endurance. This is built up and used when doing aerobic exercises such as running.
The activity I propose to teach is one that I was taught when I took fencing. The way it works is for the people doing it to first divide into groups of about four or five. Then two points are chosen for the race. All members of one group run, and the first to return to the starting line may sit down while the other members of the group run again. This is repeated until there are only two people remaining. This builds cardiovascular endurance by causing the participants to run as fast as they are able to for a relatively short distance.
I intend to maintain my self by taking walks and jogging during the summer vacation. This is to ensure that I do not become unhealthy, which happens during any long period of inactivity.

Mitchell Art Final

Mitchell B. Flaherty
Mr. Renner
Art Class, period 6
Final Exam Essay
This year in art class we completed a variety of projects, and for the final exam I chose the collage, warped grid picture and the book we made from scratch. They were all done in art class and I enjoyed doing them.
The book was made entirely from paper, cardboard, string and a small amount of glue and cloth for the cover. The pages, grouped into leaves, were made of standard printer paper that had been cut and folded. The spine was reinforced with cardboard strips, put into a cardboard cover and covered with cloth. The collage was made using a magazine page and many pictures cut from various magazines glued to the page. The warped grid picture was made while we were learning about surrealism. We first drew a grid over a picture, created a warped grid and then, drew the picture according to the grid which warped the picture.
They are similar because they all involved paper and glue (the picture was glued to the page in the warped grid. And the collage and the warped grid were similar because they both involved a picture and surrealism.
The book was different from both of them because it did not involve a picture and was three dimensional. The collage and the warped grid drawing were different because the grid involved drawing and directly altering the picture, and the collage had many picture whereas the warped grid only had one.
I chose these projects because I liked the way they turned out and were fun to do, and were not so difficult that it felt like work. Overall, I would say all projects turned out well, but these were some of my favorites.

Argentina Position Paper on Violence against Women
Mitchell B. Flaherty/Christian Gonzalez
Model United Nations
Violence against women is a major human rights problem that affects women in countries both developed and developing. It is especially problematic in developing countries where cultural and traditional customs condone different types of violence against women including: female genital mutilation, traditional forms of abuse (beatings, etc.), honor killings (killing a girl or woman due to an indiscretion real or imagined), early marriage (almost invariably without consent of the bride), dowry murder (killing a woman due to inability or unwillingness to pay the dowry) and prenatal sex selection. Also, in developing countries dealing with civil wars and national conflicts the use of rape as a weapon of war increases the spread of HIV/AIDS in these countries.
On Violence against Women in Argentina: Studies have made the estimate that 4.5 million women a year suffer from one or more various types of gender abuse. This takes the form of, not only physical abuse, but emotional and verbal abuse as well.
The country of Argentina has created legislation to combat all forms violence against women. The law calls for funding that matches the high ambitions of the law, though the delegation is confident that this will not be an issue.
The country of Argentina is of the opinion that no form of gender based violence is acceptable, whether cultural or otherwise. New laws have been created, and violence against women will not be tolerated.
Currently, violence against women is not caused by an absence of laws against it, but because in some areas it is broadly accepted and because police officers do not always enforce these laws.
The country of Argentina is of the opinion that the best way to combat violence against women is to enact specific regulations to make it more difficult for this problem to continue. These regulations will work by stiffening the penalties faced by police officers not enforcing laws. In addition to this, these regulations should make it easier to detect police officers who are guilty of this by creating a method of looking at records to determine if the police officer could have known about the violation. These laws must be matched with funding for the agencies that will be dealing with the problem. In addition, training must be provided for health and law enforcement professionals that will teach them to recognize these problems, as well as the proper procedure for enforcing these laws.
